Location: We are currently hiring one position for our Utica office and two positions for our Syracuse office

Report to: Director of College Access and Lead Advisor

Position Overview:
Are you passionate about giving students the tools they need to make their college dreams a reality? Want to shape our region’s future workforce? Through a high-touch, proactive approach, On Point provides students from backgrounds that are under-represented in higher education with the support they need to succeed. You will provide comprehensive guidance to students as they prepare for post-secondary education and career pathways.
Position Responsibilities:
- Counsel a caseload of high school juniors and seniors in the selection, application, and admissions process for colleges, universities or other post-secondary training, while providing advice and assistance on financial aid and related applications.
- Conduct one-on-one college counseling sessions to explore college options.
- Consult with students to make their academic plan align with their future goals.
- Keep detailed records of student progress, which will be used for grant reports and to improve services.
- Knowledge of college admissions processes & financial aid.
- Strong counseling and mentoring abilities to provide individualized support to students.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, staff and external organizations.
- Emotional resilience and the ability to provide guidance during stressful periods such as college application season.
- Ability to collect and use data to inform decisions about college matriculation and other trends.

Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree
- 2+ years of work experience preferred within an academic setting
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed/requested

Salary:
- $44,000 per year / 40-hour work week / 9:00am – 5:00pm / Monday thru Friday

Most positions receive a laptop or desktop, mobile phone, scanner, and portable printer to use so staff can work from other locations (school districts, community centers, etc.).
Holidays include Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and the Friday after. We also offer paid leave from 12/24 thru 1/1 for full-time employees.
On Point also:
- Covers 80% of the Health Insurance cost (individual or family plans)
- Pays the premiums for a $10,000 Life Insurance Policy while employed
- Pays the membership fees for COSTCO or BJ’s
- Covers AAA membership while employed
- Reimburses mileage for work-related travel
