Appreciation Dinner for Mentors & Volunteers at On Point for College

On Point for College Syracuse hosted its annual Volunteer and Mentor Dinner on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Harrison Center at All Saints Church. The On Point for College Utica team hosted their event on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Utica Public Library. 

The annual events are On Point's opportunity to thank mentors for the guidance and support they have provided to On Point for College students and to recognize students for academic excellence. Nearly 190 students and graduates, volunteers and mentors, and On Point supporters and elected officials attended the two events.

The events culminated with the presentation of approximately 60 refurbished laptop computers to On Point students who achieved the highest grade-point averages during the Fall 2017 semester. Welch Allyn donated the laptops to On Point, and Welch Allyn officials were on hand at the Syracuse event to present the laptops to students.

"In addition to thanking our mentors and volunteers, the Volunteer and Mentor Dinners are an opportunity for our students to make connections and build their professional network in their communities,” said Sam Rowser, executive director of On Point for College.
